Winter Wedding, St.Albans

I was about to put up my latest wedding then remembered I still hadn't put this one up at the end of last year. A military wedding with Tony looking resplendent in his uniform. I had shot Nikki's brothers wedding at the end of 2008 so it's always nice to see familiar faces on the day! Here are some of my favourites!

Summer Days

After spending a bit of time out in Gloucestershire shooting a few shots in the snow, I thought this might help for people not so happy with it. I was rooting through some old pictures for my girlfriends sister, event designer Clare Kavanagh and I came across this one from a wedding from a few years ago in Majorca that I'd completely forgotten about. It sums up the feel of warm Meditereanean air pretty well. Clare has just set up a solo company specialising in events of all kinds called Clare Kavanagh Events and she also organises the annual supercool food festival, the Wimborne Food festival. If you live in the Dorset area you should check it out in October.

Lucy and Mike's Gloucestershire wedding

Here are the images finally up, from Lucy and Mike's glorious Cheltenham wedding from the very stylish grounds of the Pump Rooms. These are a few of my favourite shots!

A quick look!!... Lucy and Mikes Cheltenham wedding

This was a great wedding for two big reasons, Lucy is a childhood friend of Sarah's and I've come to know her and Mike over the time I've been with Sarah so it always fun and relaxing to be around familiar friendly faces. The second reason being it all happened locally. I travel a fair bit for weddings, wh ich I'm more than happy to do as I enjoy seeing new places and meeting many different people, but on this occasion it was nice not to have to venture too far.

Cheltenham is a great area for anyone that hasn't been here before and some of the surrounding countryside is classic Gloucestershire and Cotwolds. Anyway the wedding was a glamourous and fun occasion,  here's a quick shot before I get more up next week.

Alison and Tom

After not posting at all through September this is the first chance I've had to get something up. September is without doubt the busiest month for weddings.  Here are a few shots a from a lovely wedding at the end of August in Essex. It was a fab day with great weather and a lot of fun and happiness all round. In particular the speeches were fantastic, funny and touching in equal measure from Tom and his best men.

14th August, Cripps Barn

I've shot lots of weddings recently and haven't managed to get many of them up on the blog due to pretty much being flat out in with the summer season. Here is one from a couple of weeks back that was great fun to shoot at Cripps Barn, a lovely barn in the Cotswolds and a really fun loving couple Sonya and Toby! I may towards the end of the season put some highlights from all the weddings that I've missed in getting on the blog and possibly a few from last year before the blog started but here are a few in the meantime:

18th July, Frampton Court

Here are a few highlghts from Charlotte and Matt's fantastic wedding at Frampton. The venue has one of the most beautiful outbuildings in the country, an orangery with a stunning lake leading up to it, the perfect backdrop for Charlotte's preparations (she looked absolutely stunning in her classic vintage dress). The weather on the day was generally kind to us although there were some fearsome clouds in the sky at times, but these actually looked pretty cool in some of the shots.

11th July

A very rainy day but still a fantastic wedding with lots of happy people. Even though the day was overcast the grounds of the venue looked great and the colours still seemed to jump out in many of shots. Arabella and Rich created a superb classic English garden party theme which made the marquee a brilliant array of colour. Here are some of the details and reportage moments I took on the day:

Dubrovnik part 2

Here are a few shots from Dubrovnik where I was working a couple of weeks ago. The city itself has so many stunning buildings surrounded entirely by walled fortifications. So often when I see wedding photos the context of where the couple are is lost. I usually try and get a few candid shots that are pulled out wide to show the whole scene unfolding so atmosphere of the day is really depicted in the images; in the case of somewhere as beautiful as Dubrvnik getting natural shots as well as including the architecture is what I wanted so here are a few with that in mind:

Stanway Tithe Barn

I've been conscious of not updating the blog as frequently as I'd like. The main reason for this of course is the start of the wedding season and generally being too busy (aren't we all). So in a bid to change this, here is a small post: a couple of venue shots this time from the splendid Stanway Tithe Barn.  A beautiful fountain is the centre piece of the venue, but it also offers a lot in the way of stunning gardens; if you want to see some more shots of this wedding check the main website.

On the day I do for a large part shoot the candid moments but the I've used in these particular shots (above and below) does help create a nice collection of shots of the venue. Most venues do have some unique features and if shot with an interesting light they can really jump out. Although at Stanway the fountain (largest in Europe I think) is the obvious place to start I noticed the doorway in the wall off to the side which for me had the perfect balance of a vintage feel and a great texture, perfect for a fashion style look.

25th April

Here is a recent wedding I've finally got round to posting this small selection up. It was great down in Hurley on the Thames; an absolutely stunning traditional English village. Clare and Alan, who were getting married were so relaxed and great fun to be with and we got some really good shots.  Enjoy!
